Thanks for visiting this website!  In the 1990s, this was a Vicnet website and the first website on Australian Liberalism. The materials captured the optimism and energy of Australian Liberalism. The election of Malcolm Turnbull as Australian Prime Minster energised me to bring the site back from the web archives.  Recent requests for liberal materials have accelerated the momentum.  It's a labour of love and a hobby so please forgive the 1990s design.  I am looking to update the materials and will then revisit the design. Yours, Victor

My Liberal inspirations

Leonard Hobhouse in Liberalism (1911)

"The heart of Liberalism is the understanding that progress is not a matter of historical contrivance,
but of liberation of living spiritual energy.  Good mechanism is that which provides the channels
wherein such energy can flow unimpeded, unobstructed by its own exuberance of output,
vivifying the social structure, expanding and ennobling the life of the mind."

Sir Robert Menzies in Afternoon Light

"We took the name ‘Liberal’ because we were determined to be a progressive party,
willing to make experiments,
in no sense reactionary,
but believing in the individual, his rights and enterprise,
and rejecting the Socialist panacea.”

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's Victory Speech on Monday 14 September:

This will be a thoroughly Liberal Government.
It will be a thoroughly Liberal government committed to freedom, the individual and the market.
It'll be focused on ensuring that in the years ahead as the world becomes more and more competitive
and greater opportunities arise, we are able to take advantage of that.
The Australia of the future has to be a nation that is agile, that is innovative, that is creative.

Back in the 1990s, I developed the first website on Australian Liberalism.  Following the election of Malcolm Turnbull as Australian Liberal Party Leader and Prime Minister, I am in the process of rebuilding the myliberal.com website.   If you want to suggest any quotes, speeches or essays on Australian Liberalism, please email me.    Yours, Victor Perton
